ABOUT
WHAT
SculptureX.org is a teaching and networking resource and promotional platform that serves as a catalyst for collaborations among arts institutions within a short day’s drive of Cleveland, OH and Erie, PA.
Founded in 2010, by four regional institutions (the Cleveland Institute of Art, Edinboro University of PA, the Erie Art Museum, and The Sculpture Center) the mission of SculptureX is three-fold: to bring awareness to the work of college art faculty of the region; to share scarce resources; and to increase student interest and parent awareness of art programs in this region.
BRIEF HISTORY
To date, several SculptureX events have been initiated. Several visiting artist exchanges were completed in 2009 and 2010. Three exhibitions are taking place in 2011 at The Sculpture Center, the Erie Art Museum, and Edinboro University, with another in 2012 at Dickinson College. In 2010, Jeanne Silverthorne was the keynote speaker at the first SculptureX symposium, The State of Sculpture at the Cleveland Institute of Art. Ann Hamilton will be the keynote speaker on Oct. 15, 2011 at the symposium, The State of the MFA, also being held at the Cleveland Institute of Art.
YOU CAN GET INVOLVED
